Registration is now open for Arts of Clark County’s second Arts and Culture summit to be held on Saturday, September 23, at the Artillery Barracks building at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Reserve. Those wishing to attend the all-day event may register for $35 per person.

Like the first summit, held in 2012, this will be a gathering of arts organizations, business leaders, local representatives, and individuals who want to see the arts thrive north of the Columbia River. The focus of morning panels and afternoon workshops will be on generating the ideas and momentum to create much-needed spaces for arts and culture activities. Particular attention will be given to arts infrastructure because of the number of development projects imminent or underway, which may include arts and culture components.

“We are on the cusp of tremendous transformation in downtown Vancouver and a thriving arts economy here will have ripple effects across Clark County and the broader region,” says Karen Madsen, chair of Arts of Clark County.

The morning panelists are purposefully from outside the immediate community and bring experience building successful projects, putting together financing and partnerships, and getting things done. Afternoon workshops will be where local stakeholders and community members are prompted to put their heads together to create real action plans that ensure continuing work toward sustainable arts and culture facilities north of the river.
